Peter cat recording co. or PCRC is a delhi based band who to classify into a genre, would be a mix a circus music, art rock and 80s Indian cinema. It's quite evident that the band is VERY good. This is the kind of original talent that MTV and Channel V should be promoting, instead of cheap knock-offs of vintage rock.
Their album "Sinema" opens with 'Pariquel', a brilliant song that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Trippy, circus-y music that gets to your head with its lyrics and effects. The next song is 'The Clown On The 22nd Floor'. It sets off the pattern that most of the songs follow. A very WIDE transition in song structure. The songs on the album have transitions that place the halves of each song at crazy contrasts. Vocalist Suryakant has a very grunge presence on stage reminiscent of Layne Staley. In their live performances Rohan on the bass takes control of the flow of music with excellent timing. Karan on the drums and Andy on the Keys round off the line-up.
'Love Demons' is a song that can get as emo as possible. However, it doesn't annoy with it's overflow of emo-ness which is quite a surprise. In fact it's easily the best song on the album. AndroJean is written by a very jaded, cynical mind who's had about enough with the people around him. Instead of giving it all away I'd just tell you to go out there and buy their album. It's something that stands out from the crowd of repetitive, mind-numbing, metal and vintage wannabe stuff out there.
Peter Cat. One of the few things I like from Delhi. It'd be a travesty if you guys don't make it big. I hope to hear more from your minds.
